The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, Inc. is the professional society for published authors in the sci-fi/fantasy genres. The website contains a lot of useful information and links.

SCBWI.org
The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators is the professional society for writers and illustrators of children’s and young adult literature. There are many local chapters with regular meetings and writing conferences.

Hosts the most up-to-date list of professional, semi-pro, and for-the-love writing markets for speculative fiction in long and short forms.

Writersmarket.com
Has the most up-to-date searchable listings of magazine and book markets as well as a nifty database function to help you manage your submissions. Cost is the same as buying the huge softcover version in the bookstore once a year.

The Association of Authors’ Representatives is the professional organization of reputable literary agents who agree to abide by their code of ethics. The website includes a searchable database which links you to agent websites.
